Music and Art Around

A roundtrip of music and art in the Öresund region: 10–31 October
In October, Moderna Museet Malmö is participating in the Music and Art Around programme, which is part of the Öresund Region 10th Anniversary celebration. Sixteen of our finest cultural institutions on both sides of Öresund launch a roundtrip in October, mixing music with conceptual art and exhibitions, taking the audience along on new, unique experiences featuring classical music and contemporary art.
This is an opportunity for audiences joining the roundtrip across Öresund to experience world-class Swedish and Danish culture. Music and Art Around is an extension of the Music Around Festival established in 2002 – a unique partnership between orchestras in the Öresund region, and held biannually on different themes. For the first time, the format will be extended to include contemporary art, highlighting the wide range of quality art on both sides of the Sound.
Music and Art Around 2010 focuses on the Öresund region’s cultural activities and a few of the major cultural institutions that influence the cultural scene on both sides of Öresund. In Malmö, in addition to Moderna Museet, Malmö Konsthall, Malmö Symphony Orchestra and the Malmö Academy of Music will also be taking part. Malmö Konsthall will be showing Rivane Neuenschwander and Amalia Pica during the festival. On the theme of Beginnings, Malmö Symphony Orchestra and the Academy of Music will perform music from the first ten years of each century.
