Next director Moderna Museet: Daniel Birnbaum

The Swedish Government has now appointed the successor of the current director for Moderna Museet, Lars Nittve, who resigns 31 October 2010: Daniel Birnbaum.

Birnbaum is a philosopher, critic and curator, previously director for IASPIS International Artists Studio Program in Sweden and 2001-2010 rector at Städelschule Staatliche Hochschule in Frankfurt am Main. Daniel Birnbaum was the artistic director for the Venice Biennale 2009.
 

In a comment, current director Lars Nittve says:
 

"I am delighted that the Government has made a decision regarding my successor. It seems to be a solution most likely to assure a continuous development of the Moderna Museet's unique character."
