Looking for women to take part in an artwork about unconditional trust at Moderna Museet!

Elin Wikström’s social artwork “Rebecka is waiting for Anna, Anna is waiting for Cecilia, Cecilia is waiting for Marie…” (1994) is going to be activated at Moderna Museet on the 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th of April. The piece will be activated in relation to Stockholm kulturnatt and AFTER ART: Lee Lozano on April 24 as well as the last day of Lee Lozano exhibition at Moderna Museet on April 25.

In order to activate the piece, we are looking for 50-100 female extras. As an extra, your task is to come to Moderna Museet, one at a time, at an appointed time (a specific time on Thursday 22/4, Friday 23/4, Saturday 24/4 or/and Sunday 25/4). You will sit by a table for fifteen minutes and act like you are the first person to arrive at a rendezvous. You can for example look at your watch from time to time or leaf through some magazines.

The piece is a constructed situation in which a stream of women circulates through a space: they come, wait for each other and leave. The work builds on and works with unconditional trust. Wikström argues that there is a surplus of humanity and that this surplus is inexhaustible. By participating you will become a part of the chain of trust build by the participating women. The work discusses also the feelings and thoughts of the person who sits and waits. Is waiting just an irritating interruption, or maybe a rare oppurtunity to be idle?

Thursday 22nd of April at 16-18
Friday 23rd of April at 10-18
Saturday 24th of April at 10-22
Sunday 25th of April at 10-18

You can participate only once a day, but it’s possible to come back and participate during all the 4 days.
