We hereby announce the programme for Stockholm Literature | Moderna Museet on 24-26 October, 2014.

The 2014 Festival will feature 60 events over two and a half days. Guests this year include prominent international authors: Ying Chen (Canada), Carol Ann Duffy (UK), Álvaro Enrigue (Mexico/USA), Aminatta Forna (UK), Josefine Klougart (Denmark), Nthikeng Mohlele (South Africa), Sofi Oksanen (Finland) Michail Sjisjkin (Russia/Switzerland), Juan Gabriel Vásquez (Colombia), Enrique Vila-Matas (Spain), Goran Vojnović (Slovenia), Edmund White (USA), and Samar Yazbek (Syria/France).

The international writers will talk to artists and filmmakers Meriç Algün Ringborg (Turkey/Sweden), Aykan Safoǧlu (Germany/Turkey), Akram Zaatari (Lebanon), the photographer Anna Clarén (Sweden) and writers Lena Andersson, Carina Burman, Elisabeth Hjorth and Daniel Sjölin (Sweden).

“We believe that the best way to revitalise Sweden’s arts scene is to invite the world to Stockholm for a dialogue over language boundaries and artistic disciplines,” says Stefan Ingvarsson, artistic director of the Festival.

A new feature this year is that the Translation of the Year prize will be awarded at the Festival. This year, the award goes to Marie Anell, for her translation of Samar Yazbek’s Cinnamon. There will also be story book readings for kids, a special performance by Miriam Bäckström and Rebecka Hemse, poetry events in association with Dramaten& and four art films relating to the Festival programme.

We are eagerly looking forward to this atumn’s Literature Festival at Moderna Museet. It was a success from the first time it was held last year. This bringing together literature and art has to be experienced first-hand,” says Ann-Sofi Noring, co-director of Moderna Museet.

Stockholm Literature | Moderna Museet is organised by the non-profit organisation Stockholms Litteraturfestival, with Moderna Museet as its key partner. This year’s programme was put together by Stefan Ingvarsson and Yukiko Duke, in consultation with Moderna Museet’s curator Catrin Lundqvist, who is responsible for art-related events at the Festival.
