Join our guided tours of Manipulate the World

Let one of our enthusiastic and expertly guides show you Manipulate the World – Connecting Öyvind Fahlström! Welcome to our guided tours of this autumn’s major exhibition, which are offered several times each week in Swedish and English.

Artists from all over the world present fragmented narratives about our time – about alternative facts, global politics, financial flows, natural resources, history and postcolonial theories – but also personal stories. See Hito Steyerl’s Sun Factory, Ibrahim Mahma’s installation of coffee and cocoa sacks, Otobong Nkanga’s black soaps, and Öyvind Fahlström’s gleaming gold ingots on purple velvet in World Bank, with a museum host or curator as your guide.

Guided tours are included in the admission fee. No booking required.

Welcome to a guided tour where the exhibition curator Fredrik Liew presents Fahlström’s Monopoly game and contemporary art relating to the idea of reality as a board game. The tour focuses on works by Öyvind Fahlström, Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Aslı Çavuşoğlu, Hito Steyerl and Harun Farocki.

In the exhibition Manipulate the World, Öyvind Fahlström’s oeuvre is linked to various artistic approaches, subjects and works by 28 contemporary artists. Fahlström claimed that there is no objective narrative about the world, but that we can all participate in producing reality and “manipulating” it. It could be said that Fahlström saw the world as a stage, and that he mixed general facts, personal stories and fiction in his dramatisations. Welcome to a guided tour where the exhibition curator Fredrik Liew presents Fahlström’s installation and contemporary art that stage the world. The tour focuses on works by Öyvind Fahlström, Jill Magid, Walid Raad, Natascha Sadr Haghighian and Katarina Pirak Sikku.
