Denise Grünstein

Denise Grünstein was born in Helsinki. She lives and works in Stockholm.

Grünstein’s oeuvre is characterised by romantic images of nature and people. For many years, she was primarily seen as a cultural celebrity photographer, but more recently she has developed a highly personal style reminiscent of Cindy Sherman, who also focuses on autobiographical works using roles to explore issues relating to sexuality, gender and identity. Grünstein has had several solo exhibitions including Figures in Landscapes at Moderna Museet (2001), Malplacé at Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg (2005) and Millesgården (2006).
