Martin Karlsson Tebus and Jenny Källman

Two contemporary photographers talk about their relationship to early photography

28.4 2017

Stockholm

Meet the photographers Martin Karlsson Tebus and Jenny Källman, who will talk with the curator Anna Tellgren about the earliest photography.

Contemporary photographers may seem to have few similarities with the early photographers featured in Written in Light. Today’s possibilities for creating and reproducing pictures are endless, not least thanks to developments in digital technology. Yet, many photographers have a strong interest in the very earliest photography and photographic techniques.

They include Martin Karlsson Tebus who, among other things, has portrayed the nostalgic pavilion architecture we see in the historicising design of 19th century parks. Jenny Källman’s images focus on the very prerequisite of photography; the phenomenon of light, even though the light in her pictures dazzles and obscures rather than generates clarity. Meet them both in a talk with Anna Tellgren, the curator of Written in Light – The First Photographers.

Martin Karlsson Tebus and Jenny Källman are featured in the exhibition Golden Sunset. Anna Tellgren is the curator of Written in Light – The First Photographers.
