Stockholm Literature 2015 *

23.10 2015 – 25.10 2015

Stockholm

Stockholm Literature | Moderna Museet introduces and highlights international literature and translation in dialogue with other arts. The programme features discussions, lectures, readings, performances and poetry walks through art.

In 2015, guests will include several prominent international writers, including: Marie NDiaye (France), Lev Rubinstein (Russia), Jesús Carrasco (Spain), Colm Tóibín (Ireland), Duong Thu Huong (Vietnam/France), Andrei Codrescu (USA/Romania), Hassan Blasim (Iraq/Finland), Olga Tokarczuk (Poland), Lyudmila Ulitskaya (Russia), Katja Petrowskaja (Germany), and Binyavanga Wainaina (Kenya).

They will talk to the artist Adrián Villar Rojas (Argentina) and the writers Rosa Liksom (Finland), Philip Teir (Finland), Jonas Hassen Khemiri, Ebba Witt-Brattström, Martina Lowden, Gabriella Håkansson, Daniel Sjölin, Aris Fioretos, and Kristoffer Leandoer (Sweden).

The Festival has also invited actor and playwright Alina Serban (Romania/UK), and the actors Hannes Meidal, Rebecka Hemse, Maia Hansson Bergqvist, Lindy Larsson, Magnus Ehrner, Gunnel Fred, Julia Dufvenius, and Sofia Pekkari, from the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm, in a collaboration with Dramaten&.

“For the Festival organisers, it all starts with a large, blank page. Bit by bit, the page is filled with bright post-it notes, with the names of invited authors, artists and performers. But who should meet whom on stage?

We talk, pair up post-it notes, move them around. In the process, we discover unexpected links between the guests. New post-it notes with names are added to the blank sheet: the names of the actors who will be guides on our popular poetry walks, and the translators who will introduce the authors before their readings. After months of working on the large blank page, we have eventually put together a programme that we are proud to present.

There is a saying in the Japanese tea ceremony, one of the fine arts of Zen Buddhism: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.”The participants should forget everything else and focus entirely on being in the here and now, in the unique moment of the tea ceremony. We would like to ask those who attend Stockholm Literature to come to us in that spirit, with a curiosity for, and openness to, the unexpected.

Welcome to the third edition of Stockholm Literature | Moderna Museet!”
