Guided meditations in Hilma af Klint
3.11 2020 – 4.11 2020
Malmö
For Hilma af Klint, meditation was an obvious part of her spirituality. Like many of her contemporaries around the turn of the century in 1900, Hilma af Klint wanted to broaden her consciousness and gain a different perspective on what we perceive as reality. In connection with our ongoing exhibition “Hilma af Klint – Artist, Researcher, Medium”, we invite you to guided meditations in front of a selected work from the series “The Ten Largest” in the Turbine Hall.
Like many of the other series in “The Paintings of the Temple”, “The Ten Largest” appear in some way unbound by time and place. On ten canvases, swirling shapes in soft pastel colors interact rhythmically with written words that form a kind of visual poems. Petals, fallopian tubes, flowers and spirals pulsate like sparks of creation. Hilma af Klint attributed this series to the exploration of the human life cycle, from childhood and adolescence to manhood and old age.
On November 3 and 4, we arrange meditation in front of a work from the series The Ten Largest. Meditation gives you an opportunity to release your stress and get into a more favorable focus on the selected work. Meditation is inviting to a journey beyond time and space.
The meditations are led by Anne Sophie Jørgensen who is a teacher of spirituality and author and leader of Tigerens Rede-Taktsang Denmark, a center for meditation and spirituality. For 30 years she has taught thousands of people how to raise their awareness and connect spirituality and everyday life.
