Sunday Workshop in the spirit of Lee Mingwei

Malmö Gallery Weekend 2025

28.9 2025

Malmö

Welcome to our Sunday Workshop! The last day of Malmö Gallery Weekend kids and adults create together with inspiration from the exhibition Best regards, Lee Mingwei.

Many of you in Malmö have contributed to Lee Mingwei’s exhibition “Best Regards, Lee Mingwei”. Textile objects or garments carrying special meaning — and the stories that come with them — have become part of the exhibition.

Lee Mingwei describes the Malmö contributions to “Fabric of Memory”:

— The stories are hauntingly beautiful — each with its own tone, its own resonance. What moves me most about this collection is how the objects reveal the bonds between grandmothers, mothers, and daughters — those ancient, deeply powerful female relationships. As I read the stories, vivid memories of my own grandmother and mother came flooding back. Two women who have been my greatest guides — not only in my work, but throughout my life. Their strength, their tenderness, their presence still carry me. In the same way, these stories carry their owners — and continue to shine through them.

What’s your object? Your memory?
In the Workshop, we explore Lee Mingwei’s art in a playful way, creating with inspiration from “Fabric of Memory”. Can art be about encountering another person, about giving and receiving, about remembering? Let’s find out!
