About Fountain
A tiny spurt of water appears between the paving stones and timidly leaves dark, wet blotches on the ground. Is this a leakage – an accident? Or a modest gesture that upturns our polished society?
Working with displacements in scale through quirky sculptures is a recurring approach in Magnus Thierfelder Tzotzi’s practice. He finds his motifs in trivial circumstances. With an eye for our collective life in the public domain, he amasses things and situations that are somehow warped and reverberate in his installations. Here, Tzotzi emphasises the potential of the anti-monumental and encourages us to pay attention to the details in our surroundings. A mighty whisper that transforms our drab everyday into something singular and strange
The installation of the artwork “Fountain” has been made possible with the support of the City of Malmö and the Malmö Beautification and Planting Association (Malmö Förskönings- och Planteringsförening).
The work is part of the Moderna Museet collection. Acquired in 2021 (Swedish Acquisitions 2021).
