KHMxMMM: Julia Sjölin – Cygnet & Stellectric Signs

8.4 2026

Malmö

In her artistic practice, which moves between film and painting, Julia Sjölin explores layers and shifts. In this artist talk, she approaches questions of surface and depth, movement and connection, and opens up a reading of the work as a constantly light-refracting field.

Julia Sjölin is an artist working between Berlin and Stockholm. In her artist talk within the KHMxMMM series, she will present her formulation of signs – in film and in painting – to reflect on surface, depth, and sediment (water lilies growing from the bottom upward). She will also touch on the cut as a form of connection, the act of falling in and out of images, and the artwork as a continuously refracting object.
