Autumn Break at last – “Colourful Stories”!

Create with an artist, Guided tours & more

30.10 2024 – 2.11 2024

Malmö

Join us during the autumn break as we create “Colourful Stories,” inspired by the works of artist Jenny Kalliokuljo. Every day, there will be guided tours of the exhibition “On The Absurd Drama That is Also Life.” On Saturday, Jenny Kalliokuljo will join us and lead a workshop.

Join us during the autumn break in the Workshop, where we’ll create with inspiration from the artist Jenny Kalliokuljo, who works with textile painting, among other mediums. Together, we’ll create a colorful patchwork of paintings on various forms of everyday textiles, such as kitchen towels, pillowcases, or handkerchiefs. Once a painting is finished, we will assemble it with all the others into a large collective textile artwork (the patchwork). Our different visual stories will form their own universe, where exciting combinations and encounters can emerge.

Meet the artist Jenny Kalliokuljo! On Saturday, we will conclude the Autumn Break Workshop with a “grand finale” as the artist herself joins us in the Workshop.

We will gather in the Workshop and then head to the exhibition “On The Absurd Drama That is Also Life” to view Jenny’s works and gather inspiration. There will be an opportunity to ask Jenny questions; perhaps we’ll get ideas for the pieces we’ll create in the Workshop?

We will continue working on the collective textile artwork that all participants have been contributing to throughout the week. You’ll get to choose your own piece of fabric to paint on; what story will you choose to depict?

Every day during the autumn break, we offer guided tours of the newly opened exhibition “On The Absurd Drama That is Also Life.” The tour begins around 11.00 and serves as a brief introduction for those who want to continue working in the Workshop on the theme “Colourful Stories.” All ages are welcome to participate, but the tour is specifically designed for children and families.
