Guided Meditations in Hilma af Klint
30.9 2020 – 16.10 2020
Malmö
Meditation was an unquestionably integral part of Hilma af Klint’s own spirituality. Like many of her contemporaries at the turn of the twentieth century, the artist strove to expand her consciousness and acquire a broader view of what we perceive as reality. In conjunction with our ongoing exhibition, “Hilma af Klint: Artist, Researcher, Medium”, we are inviting the public to join in two guided meditations before a work of art selected from the series “The Ten Largest” in the Turbine Hall.
Like many of the other series from “Paintings for the Temple”, “The Ten Largest” appears to be somehow independent of any particular time or place. On these ten canvases, whirling forms in soft pastel colors interact rhythmically with written words to make up a kind of visual poetry. Petals, fallopian tubes, flowers, and spirals are bursting with life like sparks of creativity. Hilma af Klint dedicated this series to exploring the human life cycle from childhood and youth to adulthood and old age.
On September 30 and October 16, we are arranging meditations before a work of art from the series “The Ten Largest”. These meditations give viewers an opportunity to let go of their stress and achieve a more beneficial, sharper focus on the chosen work. Meditation offers a journey beyond time and space.
The meditations are led by Lars Hain, who has been working with energy-related methods of achieving sustainable performance and health for twenty-five years. He realized long ago how important meditation could be for expanding consciousness and thereby increasing our understanding of man’s inherent power and intelligence. Lars Hain’s own personal inward journey has given him insights into and an increased understanding of phenomena in the world around him.
