PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CONCERT WILL BE HELD AT INKONST, BERGSGATAN 29 IN MALMÖ

Inkonst and Moderna Museet Malmö is proud to present a meeting between electronic music and textile art . In connection with the opening of the exhibition Hannah Ryggen – Weaving the World at Moderna Museet Malmö, Mika Vainio will perform the newly composed piece Trollklangveggen at Inkonst.

Mika Vainio’s newly composed piece is based on Hannah Ryggen’s work Trollveggen from 1966. The work is a seven-meter long tapestry and is available at the University of Oslo. Hannah Ryggen (1894-1970) grew up in Malmö and studied painting and drawing while also working as a teacher. In the 1920s, she abandons painting and begins to weave. Hannah Ryggen’s large socially engaged tapestries were often direct reactions to events and conflicts in the world. She reacted strongly against fascism, nazism and other destructive forces. Her works discuss violence and abuse, but also everyday life as a small farmer in Örlandet in Norway, where she lived most of her life. Mika Vainio aka Ø (FI) is one half of the ultra-minimal, now shattered, elektronica duo Pan Sonic. Vainio productions always feels alive and unique natural.

The exhibition Hannah Ryggen – Weaving the World will be presented at Moderna Museet Malmö between October 31, 2015 and March 6, 2016. The inauguration of the exhibition is on October 30, at 7-9 PM. Later the same evening, at 9 PM-midnight, Mika Vainio will perform Trollklangveggen at Inkonst in Malmö. For more information and tickets, see Inkonst’s website.

Trollklangveggen was commissioned by nyMusikk and National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo.
