18.00–20.00: Drink & Draw in the Foyer

Be inspired by Picasso’s nocturnal drawing marathon and take your drawing skills to new heights! No prior knowledge is required.

19.00–19.45: Author Talk in the Auditorium (in Swedish)

Listen to an author talk about Picasso’s outdoor sculptures in Sweden. The authors of the book “Picasso in the Swedish People’s Home” (Picasso i det svenska folkhemmet, 2025), Ola Liljedahl and Lena Nyblad Liljedahl, participate together with Henrik Orrje, acting head of the Public Art Agency department. After the talk, you can buy the book and there will be a book signing outside the Moderna Museet shop.

20.00–21.00: Live in the Foyer – Saskia Quartet

Saskia Quartet has established a unique sound and given new life to the Swedish singing tradition through new interpretations of songs by Cornelis Vreeswijk that pay tribute to the beloved icon. Saskia Quartet consists of Oscar Dahlkvist Frid, Julian Wiklund Pöntinen, Sam Öhd and Malte Qviström Öhrvall.

21.00–21.15: Lecture in the Auditorium – Aging role models & why we can be inspired by old men! (in Swedish)

Erik Östling, who runs the Instagram account “Gubbstil”, talks about what “late style” can be.

21.15–21.45: Guided tour of “Late Picasso” (in Swedish)

Join a guided tour of the exhibition “Late Picasso” and discover the late part of Pablo Picasso’s art. Collect your free ticket for the guided tour at the information desk during the evening.

22.00–22.30: Live in the Auditorium – Invisible Music

Electronic music with Åke Parmerud, an internationally renowned composer and artist whose work spans electroacoustic and instrumental music, as well as experimental compositions for dance, film, interactive art, multimedia, theatre and video. In 1998 he was appointed a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. Efva Lilja participates with dance/choreography.

Picasso in the Swedish People’s Home

Discover the story behind the five free-standing concrete sculptures by Pablo Picasso in Sweden – from Kristinehamn to Halmstad, Solna and Moderna Museet in Stockholm – in the book “Picasso i det svenska folkhemmet. Berättelsen om fem offentliga skulpturer” (2025).

Lena Nyblad Liljedahl and Ola Liljedahl tell the amazing story of political battles, artistic compromises and unexpected events that shaped the fate of the sculptures, in a Swedish cultural drama that is as dramatic as it is entertaining.
