“ACT” is an 8-year long, ongoing performance work to implement the UN’s Convention on Statelessness in Norwegian legal practice, and the performance work “La Passione” examines the visual and political legacy of Italian radical feminism.
Marianne Heier (b. 1969) is a visual artist educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and Oslo. Her work is often categorized as institutional critique; she herself calls her projects activations. She often starts from questions related to distribution of resources and power. The gift and its inherent power are recurrent in Heier’s work, both as a theme and a strategy. Through methods borrowed from activism, theater and anthropology, she challenges internalized structural hierarchies and allows repressed perspectives and unexplored possibilities to come to light. The result is presented as a performance, text, installation, objects, photo, video or various forms of architectural interventions. Heier lives and works in Oslo.
