Art & Emotion
Art & Emotion is a guided experience where two art educators lead a small group (maximum 8 participants) in a 45-minute session that begins with a brief guided meditation. In front of the chosen artwork, the art educator will guide the group further. You’ll participate in a series of exercises designed to encourage reflection and help you connect with the thoughts and emotions the artwork evokes in you. You are invited to share your feelings, entirely voluntarily, while also listening to the experiences of other participants. Finally, the art educator will share the story behind the artwork discussed.

Background
Art & Emotion has been developed in close collaboration with Gil Nicol, who initiated the “Art Flow” project at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Sydney, Australia, and Jenny Ahlner, a licensed psychologist and psychotherapist. During this year, our art educators have been trained in this method.
The ability to manage and process emotions, especially difficult ones, is a key aspect of maintaining well-being. Emotions act as messengers, providing valuable information to help us regulate our behavior. Our emotional life is a constant interplay between body, mind, and environment.
Art can play a role in helping us confront our emotions and give them expression. By learning to skillfully interpret, process, and acknowledge both our own and others’ emotions (emotional intelligence), we can navigate the world with greater ease, shifting our focus from merely surviving to thriving
