Theme 7 December: Memories and Meetings
This Sunday Workshop draws inspiration from the ongoing exhibition “Best regards, Lee Mingwei”, and we will experiment with different materials and methods in the Workshop.
The artist Lee Mingwei creates art that comes to life in encounters between people – through gifts, hospitality, trust, and relationships.
This week we are collaborating with the Palliative Development Centre in Lund, and we are taking part in their program, which is held throughout the week in various locations across Skåne. We invite you to interpersonal meetings where memories and reflection are at the center.
In the Workshop, we have prepared three different creative activities:
1.
Create graphic prints that tell the story of a memory. It’s a simple and fun technique where we use craft foam. For the brave – go out into the museum and pass on your memory to a stranger.
2.
Try making art that is an event rather than an object, something known as participatory art. We draw each other, but it’s not about the result (that the portraits should be beautiful or skillfully drawn). We focus on what happens in the moment: the situation created in the encounter, the presence, and perhaps the meditative quality of the instant.
3.
What is the letter you never wrote? The Workshop becomes a place for conversation before the letter-writing; we have prepared some questions/words that can help you in your reflections. Then you write the letters in the exhibition, in one of the booths.
ABOUT PALLIATIVE CARE WEEK
Palliative Care Week is organized 1 – 7 December by the Palliative Development Centre and aims to increase knowledge about palliative care. It seeks to convey the understanding that palliative care is not about “giving up,” but about creating the best possible quality of life, offering choices, and providing support throughout the entire course of illness. The Palliative Development Centre is part of Lund University and Region Skåne, with the mission to conduct research, development, and education in palliative care.
