Get a sneak peek of the new exhibition “The Subterranean Sky – Surrealism in the Moderna Museet Collection”. Here, iconic paintings and sculptures are presented alongside works such as the bubbling sludge of Robert Rauschenberg’s “Mud Muse” and the dreamlike film landscapes of Maya Deren.

This year marks the centenary of the French poet André Breton’s writing of the first Surrealist manifesto. “The Subterranean Sky – Surrealism in the Moderna Museet Collection” traces the legacy of classical Surrealism’s most famous works, extending into later artistic expressions that explore the subconscious, the irrational, and a desire-driven culture with dark and violent undertones.

DJ Lil Shiit will be performing, and the restaurant will be open until 20.

Drink & Draw

During the evening, there will also be a Drink & Draw event in the foyer, where we will explore automatic drawing, a method practised by the Surrealists.

Automatism involves setting reason aside to allow the imagery of the subconscious to be freely expressed.
