As part of the Lustholmen Festival, a gentle act of resistance unfolds as the large group dance “Sammankomst” takes over Exercisplan outside the Moderna Museet.
The Malmö-based choreographer Maria Naidu will be present to lead the activity alongside around fifteen dancers, inviting participants to join the large group dance on their own terms. Exercisplan, outside the Moderna Museet – a site once shaped by military discipline – now becomes a space for gathering, presence and shared movement.
Lustholmen is a festival of dance and choreography, celebrating the beginning of summer with lust, life and light. Organised by MDT Moderna Dansteatern, the four-day festival takes place across various locations on the island of Skeppsholmen – both indoors and outdoors. The 2026 edition highlights the local dance scene, presents new works, and brings international guest performances to Stockholm.
Maria Naidu
Maria Naidu is a multifaceted artist with an absolute passion for dance and a strive to make it accessible to a wide audience without compromising on artistic quality.
She aims to deeply move her audience, evoke emotion and provoke thought. Her artistry is rooted in a strong belief in dance’s ability to communicate beyond language and intellect.
Maria explores the physical, perceptual, sensual, social, emotional and spiritual dimensions that dance can generate. Issues she has artistically addressed in recent years include identity, cultural and ethnic belonging, and body ideals.
She has produced 37 artistic works of varying length, for different sized ensembles, diverse audiences and all kinds of venues, that have toured or performed in 14 countries, on five continents.
