Lynette Yiadom-Boakye

The painter and writer Lynette Yiadom-Boakye is one of our most exciting contemporary artists. In her singularly personal and expressive paintings, she conjures up images that are both disturbing and sensual. The exhibition “Lynette Yiadom Boakye: Fly in League with the Night” features her fascinating art, from her graduation show at the Royal Academy Schools in 2003, and her remarkably successful international career, to the present day.

Yiadom-Boakye communes closely with art history, imbuing her images with a sense of being beyond time, yet poignantly present in the now. She was inspired by and learned from 19th-century masters such as Edouard Manet and John Singer Sargent.

After the live stream, you can chat with Matilda Olof-Ors, curator, and Anita Wernström-Pitcher, curator Learning.
