Music director and principal conductor Daniel Harding talks about art and music with Daniel Birnbaum, director of Moderna Museet and the curators Matilda Olof-Ors and Jo Widoff after the talk La Mer (The Sea) 1903–05 by Claude Debussy is performed in the exhibition Days and Ages by Christodoulos Panayiotou.
The sea has a special significance in the 320 sq m terracotta floor that is a part of the exhibition. The exhibition Dance Machines – From Léger to Kraftwerk incorporates encounters between art, dance and music from early modernism to the present. Both these exhibitions will be discussed in the talk that precedes the performance of La Mer.
The talk and performance are included in the normal admission price. Please note: No audience seating is provided for the one-hour talk and performance.
At Berwaldhallen 15 May 2014
Thursday 15 May, directly after the regular concerts at 6 pm an extra piece will be performed; L’age d’ôr (The Golden Era) by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí at Berwaldhallen.
At Moderna Museet the exhibition Surrealism & Duchamp will be on until 17 August, featuring the film L’age d’ôr (63 min, 1930), in which music by classical composers is used. The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Harding will play an excerpt of the original music while part of the film is shown. The film screening is included in the regular concert ticket price.
