The city´s topography, designs, surfaces and spaces – closed as well as open – have fascinated photographers since the 1850s. At that time Stockholm was one of Europe´s dirtiest cities, but the beatiful views from many of the city´s prospects gave no hint of this. Instead, the charm of the city was focused on through the contrast between the open waterways and the buildings in the Old Town and Södermalm.
The exhibition contains photographs by KW Gullers, Ferdinand Flodin, John Hertzberg, Henry B. Goodwin, Helmer Bäckström and many others.
