Objects of my Affection

28.5 1998 – 4.10 1998

Stockholm

Objects of my Affection is the name of an album comprising of 36 sheets that Man Ray compiled in September 1944 when he was working in Hollywood. During the World War II he had fled from Paris where he had been working since the 1920s. The unbound album contains photographs, drawings and descriptive texts by Man Ray looking back over his whole career.

Objects of my Affection begins with a self-portrait executed in a mirror, in which Man Ray ironically singles himself out as the principal object in the collection. This work was purchased by the museum in 1996 and it is the first time it has been shown.
