Real Presence II, Belgrad

Lectures and presentations, discussions and seminars were organized and a workshop that lasted two weeks resulted in an exhibition that filled the entire Museum 25th of May (the former Tito Palace) in Belgrade.

On the 25th of August 2002 it is time for the second edition of Real Presence and Moderna Museet’s International Programme has also this year organized with a participation from Sweden. Altogether nine people – artists and art students – have been invited to participate in the project. Invited are, moreover, three students from Dramatiska Institutet –University College of Film, Radio, Television and Theatre, as these students are working on an art project, aiming to enhance TV’s potential as an art space.

Born on the Sixth of June, August 30 – September 20, 2002, Belgrade

In connection with Real Presence II, Moderna Museet’s International Programme organizes an exhibition with works by Dejan Antonijevic. The exhibition, entitled Born on the Sixth of June, will be shown in SKC Gallery, in central Belgrade.

The young man portrayed beside is the artist himself, Dejan Antonijevic. Born on the sixth of June – the Swedish National Day – he was brought up in Belgrade and today he lives and works as an artist in Stockholm. His work reflects his personal history. Looking at language barriers and the filtered perspectives of the Media, it is concerned with his distant observations of his home country. As a Serb, an immigrant and a Swedish citizen, Dejan Antonijevic investigates the meaning of his different identities.
