A visit to Moderna Museet

Welcome to Moderna Museet! On this page, you can read a step-by-step guide with images and text to help you prepare for your visit with us.

Moderna Museet is an art museum. We have paintings, photographs, sculptures and films, among other things. The art here can be over a hundred years old or brand new.

Moderna Museet is located on the island Skeppsholmen. There is a bridge that allows you to get here by car, bus, bike or on foot. On the way, you pass many boats moored at the quay. You can take a boat to Skeppsholmen. You can also take a boat to Skeppsholmen.

You can find more information on how you get to the museum here: Find us

After crossing the bridge, you will see large colourful sculptures as you approach the museum. These are works of art made to stand outdoors and Moderna Museet owns them.

If you have any questions you can always ask one of our museum hosts at the information desk or around in the museum.

Information on open times and tickets can be found here: Visit the museum

For schools and groups

If you visit the museum with your school or a group that has booked a guided tour, a museum host or art educator will meet you in the foyer.

Tell your teacher if you would like to borrow some noise-cancelling headphones or if you need to go to a calmer room.

In the Workshop you will find materials such as pencils, paper and colours. The art educator will tell you which materials to use and what to do. There is also a toilet in the workshop.

At the end of the visit, pictures that are wet with paint can be left to dry. When the pictures are dry, the art teacher will collect them and put them in a box outside the Workshop where they can be picked up. They are kept there for two weeks.
