Alive artworks!

Christmas holidays at the museum

Can a work of art be alive? In this year’s Christmas holiday workshop, we are inspired by the artists in the  exhibition Twilight Land and we work creatively in the Workshop. Join us and investigate whether works of art can be alive!

Several artworks in the exhibition Twilight Land are subject to change. The material they are made of causes them to change over time, perhaps without it being something our eye can perceive; an invisible process. Similar processes take place continuously, both in our own bodies and in nature, and are a prerequisite for life itself. Cells are broken down and new ones are built up in our bodies, and in all living organisms. We get inspiration from artworks in the exhibition and work with similar materials that they are made of. Organic materials from nature that we use by printing, sculpting, painting, drawing.

The purpose of this workshop is to get to know the materials we work with and create a relationship with clay, the leaves, the sticks. How do the different materials feel? Fragrance? Hard? Soft and supple? Sticky? Is there any material that you like better than another? How do the materials behave when we try to build or paint with them? Welcome to the Christmas holidays at the museum!
