Malmö Gallery Night 2015

Malmö

Starting on Malmö Gallery Night, September 26, Moderna Museet Malmö is presenting a comprehensive exhibition featuring a network of artists and choreographers who were active in New York in the 1960s and 70s. Objects and Bodies at Rest and in Motion focuses on the tension and relationship between the human body and solid objects.

Time: 18-00
Free Admission

“What happened in art and dance during a few years in the sixties fundamentally changed the relationship between viewer and artwork,” says Magnus af Petersens, the exhibition curator. “Instead of standing outside and looking in, the viewer became a participant—and therefore a co-creator. This is the explosive political force hidden behind polished abstract surfaces. Frank Stella got it wrong: what you see is not just what you see!”

Objects and Bodies at Rest and in Motion opens with an inauguration speech by Museum Director John Peter Nilsson and curator Magnus af Petersens. Throughout the evening, several of Simone Forti’s dance constructions will be performed and Franz Erhard Walther’s Sehkanal will be activated, as they will again periodically throughout the exhibition period. We will also offer a dance workshop for all ages, where visitors will have the chance to create a rhythm along with others that will in the end lead to a composition with rules and feelings.

Programme:
6.30 PM: Inauguration speech
7 PM: Performance: Simone Forti and Franz Erhard Walther
7-10 PM: Dance workshop
9 PM: Performance: Simone Forti and Franz Erhard Walther
