Performances in two works – premiere December 2022 and March 2023
How do we make racism visible as an ongoing story? Can the performative space of art be a place where we face another reality?
European standards
First up, premiering at Moderna Museet Malmö on 1 December, is European Standards (2022), a new work by Erik Aalto. European Standards is a performance that engages in dialogue with key postcolonial texts by Aimé Césaire, Robin D’Angelo and Sven Lindqvist.
Letter to Europe is staged by Saga Gärde in collaboration with the artist Fatima Moallim. European Standards is followed up with the staging of Athena Farrokhzad’s poem Letter to Europe (2018), premiering in March 2023. The series is carried out with the support of the Culture Council, the Artists’ Committee, the city of Malmö and Region Skåne.
About Amfi
Amfi develops the performing arts through language and invites authors to write plays. Amfi works thematically during 2022 and 2023 to examine the history of racism and Europe’s ideological traditions in several works based on Athena Farrokhzad’s poem Letter to Europe.
