Try popping – contract a muscle quickly and relax it again! After a little training, it almost looks like an electric shock through your body. Popping is a illusory streetdance from the late 1970s in California, when the music genre funk was developed.
Breaking

Want to have fun when you dance? Try locking! Locking is a humorous and energetic dance style that emerged in the 1960s. The style has been named after the first locking group “The Lockers”. It’s about locking movements.

This workshop is inspired by Maria Hassabi’s artwork in the PUBLIC MOVEMENT exhibition and we will take improvised movements based on stillness and slowmotion into the public and different places at the museum. Then we go out from the museum into the city and do the same thing. We try to come out from our comfort zone and let our movements get affected by people, sound, light etc. It will last for about 3 hours. Limited number of places, first come first served. You can sign up for this workshop by sending an email to workshop leader Atoosa Farahmand, a.farahmand@modernamuseet.se.
