In the exhibition Moment – Marlene Dumas (Coming and Going)
In English
The recently-launched exhibition series Moment will feature Coming and Going by Marlene Dumas, curated by Sune Nordgren, together with Ann-Sofi Noring. Thirteen years have passed since Marlene Dumas was introduced in Stockholm with her portraits of South Africans in the exhibition Wounds when the new Moderna Museet had recently opened (1998). That time, her works were hanging in “Arresten” (the Detention Room)where the stark setting enhanced the vulnerability of the faces.
This time, her paintings will be shown in one of the galleries normally used for the permanent collection, and the discussion will also take place here, among her works. Marlene Dumas has an inspiring way of talking about her art, so don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to hear her in person!
Her discussion partner, curator Sune Nordgren, was born in Lund. He has worked as a museum director internationally, is an ex-artist, designer, art critic and TV host for SVT. He introduced Marlene Dumas’ work in Sweden in 1995, when he was the director of Malmö Konsthall.
Dumas will visit Stockholm to receive the Rolf Schock Prize.
