Conversation in the Collection: The Many Expressions of Drawing

Yet Another Morning

24.1 2026

Stockholm

The season’s first Conversation in the Collection takes place in the exhibition “Yet Another Morning – Drawing in the Moderna Museet Collection”. Moderna Museet curator Annika Gunnarsson meets the curators behind the drawing biennale ”& teckning” for a discussion on the many expressions of drawing and its enduring relevance.

The drawing biennale ”& teckning” opened in August 2025 in Stockholm. It highlighted drawing as an art form in its own right – direct, pared-back, and deeply human. The biennale brought together artists with the ambition of changing the perception of an art form that the curators argue has for too long been associated with sketches or preparatory studies. The works in the first edition of ”& teckning” ranged from the quiet to the radical, from the power of charcoal to the subtle resonance of line.

The curators behind the biennale – Rebecka Tollens, Felix Berg, and Jack Dalla Santa – want to show that drawing is not limited to pencil on paper. Likewise, ”Yet Another Morning – Drawing in the Moderna Museet Collection” presents both art that we recognise as “pencil on paper” and drawings that take shape in entirely different materials and dimensions.
