It’s finally time to open the doors to the first exhibition of the year! Welcome to the digital opening of the exhibition “Swedish acquisitions: Insights”. Meet some of the artists, listen to curator Asrin Haidari talk about the ideas behind the exhibition, and museum director Gitte Ørskou tell about the work on the extensive acquisition project “Swedish acquisitions 2021”.

Tag along as we give an exclusive preview of “Swedish acquisitions: Insights” and ask your questions to three of the artists in the exhibition: Juan-Pedro Fabra Guemberena, Thomas Wågström, and Susanna Jablonski.

During the evening, we will also get insights into the work on the exhibition from Asrin Haidari and museum director Gitte Ørskou who will talk about the project “Swedish acquisitions 2021” which was completed last year.

About Swedish Acquisitions: Insights

This is the first of two exhibitions featuring works from Moderna Museet’s major project for the acquisition of new art: “Swedish Acquisitions 2021”.

Meet some 30 artists explore subjects such as states of mind and bodily experiences. “Swedish Acquisitions: Insights” introduces artists whose practices are intertwined with everyday existence; their works portray difficult life events, the importance of home and the road to healing.

The exhibition covers sculptural media, painting, film and photography, but also performances and social manifestations.

About Swedish Acquisitions 2021

The major initiative Swedish Acquisitions 2021 was launched after the government allocated SEK 25 million to Moderna Museet to support the Swedish art sector in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic.

The project led to the acquisition of 373 new works made in 1962–2021 by a total of 169 artists.
