Film weekend 6-7 September

On the last weekend of the exhibition Time & Place: Milano-Torino 1958-1968 we arrange two full days of Italian feature film. Jan Aghed and Astrid Söderbergh Widding have been invited to give lectures and show film in relation to the exhibition.

Film critic Jan Aghed will speak about a development from the neo realism of southern Italy to the modernistic Milan with examples from epoch-making films by Roberto Rossellini, Luchino Visconti, Francesco Rosi and Michelangelo Antonioni. After his lecture we will screen Luchino Visconti’s Rocco ei suoi fratelli (1960) and Michelangelo Antonioni’s La Notte (1961).

Astrid Söderbergh Widding (professor of film at Stockholm University and film crtitic) will develop the essay she wrote for the exhibition catalogue. Her point of departure will be the film maker, poet and writer Pier Paolo Pasolini. After her lecture we will screen Pasoloni’s Il vangelo secondo Matteo (1964) and Teorema (1968).
