The Libraries
Two libraries become one
On 1 July 2013, Stockholm will see the Photography Library at Moderna Museet and the Art Library at Nationalmuseum merge to create a single specialist library for art, photography and design. The new Art Library is a joint venture between the two museums, which will run it together.
Making two libraries into one enables us to work more effectively, offering our visitors a better service and increased access. The new library will be housed in the home of the current Art Library on Skeppsholmen.
To complete the merger, the premises will require a refit and materials will have to be relocated. The Photography Library will therefore remain closed to visitors from 1 February. The Art Library is open as usual on Tuesdays and Thursdays 1–6 pm and Wednesdays 1–4 pm until 5 June. It will then close for its refit and the new Art Library will open on 5 November 2013.
Street address: Holmamiralens väg 2 on Skeppsholmen, in the old Sjökarteverket building.
Opening hours: Tuesdays, Thursdays 1–6 pm and Wednesdays 1–4 pm.
