21.1 2006 – 30.4 2006

Stockholm

With his enigmatic paintings Dick Bengtsson (1936–1989) has fascinated and troubled generations of audiences ever since the 1960s.

25 years have gone by since Moderna Museet featured his works in a major exhibition in 1983. His works are as intriguing and spell-binding as ever. Together with Öyvind Fahlström, Dick Bengtsson is one of the few artists of his generation who have ventured onto the international art scene in recent years.

Guest curator: Mårten Castenfors

Instead of a catalogue, a new book about Dick Bengtsson, published by SAK and with essays by, among others, the writer Douglas Feuk, Lars Nittve, director of Moderna Museet, and the artist Karin Mamma Andersson, will be on sale.

In the book on Dick Bengtsson the artist Karin Mamma Andersson writes about the first time she raised an eyebrow at the sight of Dick Bengtsson’s art.
