”without a mother tongue can be viewed as a totality or in parts, from the outside at a distance, or by entering the work and discovering details that were not perceived at first glance. When you stand in the middle of the work, the perspective changes and the experience is different. What you see can tip over into its opposite, hard and prickly can become soft and billowing. The essential experience is one of not belonging, vulnerability and transitoriness.”
