The sneak start at Moderna Museet Malmö can only be described as a huge success. At BUBBLENIGHT on 26 September, some 3,000 visitors came to the illuminated bubble that had touched down on Stora Nygatan outside the museum, as part of Gallery Night, an art event organised every year in Malmö.

The idea of BUBBLENIGHT was to give a taste of what Moderna Museet Malmö will be offering after the grand opening. Visitors could enjoy art, food and drinks inside the huge plastic bubble designed and built by Berlin-based Plastique Fantastique. Throughout most of the evening a long line of people were waiting outside the entrance, eager to come inside to see Adam Leech’s video work Speech Bubble. In the larger bubble outside in the street, the Friends of Moderna Museet presented information about the association and the opportunity to sign up for membership. The welcome present to the first 1,000 visitors were quickly disposed of, the most popular one being the specially-created Moderna Museet Malmö praline.
