Jensner has an academic background in art history, philosophy and history of ideas. He and his family have been living in Malmö for several years, and he has also lived, studied and worked in Philadelphia, USA, for seven years.

Moderna Museet’s director, Lars Nittve, on the appointment: “Moderna Museet Malmö will be a top-level art museum of international standing with an independent exhibition programme. We are delighted to have found a director with a firm local connection and a solid regional reputation, as well as a broad international outlook.”

Magnus Jensner, future director of Moderna Museet Malmö: “Backed by the aggregate knowledge of Moderna Museet, its impressive collection and excellent reputation, I am delighted, proud and very enthusiastic to take part in building a new art institution in Malmö!
