I have a painting that I would like to know more about and get it valued. Do you do that sort of thing?

Moderna Museet does not offer this kind of service. If you have further questions about this, please send an e-mail to our collection registrar, Christina Wiklund.

Can I donate a work of art to Moderna Museet?

Donations play a crucial part in Moderna Museet’s development as a leading international museum. If you have any questions or ideas about donations, or if you have a work that you wish to donate, please contact Moderna Museet’s collection registrar, Christina Wiklund.


We are a school class who want to visit the museum, do we need to book in advance?

To avoid double bookings for guided tours, it is always advisable to contact the booking office well in advance, to notify us of the date when you wish to visit. Please e-mail us at, or give us a call on +46 (8) 5202 3501 on Tuesday–Friday between 10 and 12.

And please check our Rules of conduct before your visit.

Is there anywhere I can eat my packed lunch?

Yes, you can eat your own refreshments near the entrance on floor 1 facing the water. You can also sit outdoors, weather permitting.

What is the admission charge for a school class at Moderna Museet?

Admission is free to the museum’s exhibitions for teacher-led preschool and school classes with students under 19 years of age, with accompanying teachers, pedagogues, assistants and SFI classes. Read more before you visit the museum with your school class here: Visit the museum

Is there a cloakroom where we can leave our jackets and bags?

Clothes and bags can be stored in the lockers behind the Shop on Floor 4, and by the entrance on Floor 1.

I would like to be an internat Moderna Museet. Who do I ask?

We offer internships, but only to applicants who wish to be interns as part of their studies or on referral from their job centre. Please find more information on how to apply here: Internship at Moderna Museet.


Is it possible to book Moderna Museet as a venue for conferences, parties or other events?

Yes, we rent out different parts of the premises. The smallest is for 30 people, and the largest takes up to 200. The venues are suitable for a variety of events, from a small lunch meeting to full-day conferences followed by a dinner or reception, and museum activities. The Shop

Are all the products in the Museum Shop also available from your web shop?

No, some products in the physical shop are not available in the web shop.

Can I order products from the web shop from abroad?

Yes, you can order products from outside Sweden, but remember that you may have to pay customs duty if they are shipped outside the EU. Read more about our sales terms.

Does the Shop have the same opening hours as the Museum?
