Corridor to the collection

By asking “Who are you really?”, The artist Jeppe Hein wants visitors to interact with the situations he has created. In the long corridor to the Moderna Museet collection, you can try a series of workshops inspired by the colours of the chakra system.

I am

The “I am” room is based on the red root chakra. Here, you can explore who you are at the core of your being.

It’s not about your job, your marital status, whether you have kids or pets or if you prefer football, yoga or hip hop.

“Here, we use words and exercises to find out who we are,” says Jeppe Hein.

I feel

In the orange “I feel” room, you can face and express your feelings.

Are you happy, confused, sad or tired? The exercises here include drawing faces that show different expressions:

“It’s not about making neat or beautiful drawings – it’s about expressing yourself creatively,” says Jeppe Hein.

I do

The yellow “I do” room represents the solar plexus chakra.

Here, you can try exercises to find your “here and now”, on your own or with others.

How does it feel to take control? How does it feel to let go?

I love

The green “I love” room represents the heart chakra. You are invited to write a love letter to yourself here.

“Take a seat, lean against someone you just met, or someone you love, to feel their heartbeat and your own,” says Jeppe Hein.

I speak

The pale blue “I talk” room is based on the throat chakra.

The exercises here are focused on exploring your inner self and your inner voice.

“How do you talk in life? Do you tell the truth? And can you talk about your feelings?” asks Jeppe Hein.

I see

In the indigo room “I see”, you can explore your seeing and what it feels like to look into someone’s eyes.

“Try to maintain eye contact, to find out what is going on inside you. Is this a reflection of yourself you see, or is it the soul of another person?” asks Jeppe Hein.

I understand

The purple “I understand” room represents the seventh chakra.

70 percent of our body is water, which vibrates when exposed to certain sound frequencies. Try painting with singing bowls and see how the vibrations are visible in the bowls.
