To be responsible for the Prime Minister’s art

In the offices of our elected officials, in diplomatic residences and certain royal representative spaces, as well as, in other public offices there is art on the walls from, among others, Moderna Museet. What is the thought process like when choosing art for the Prime Minister, or let’s say the Minister of Culture’s office?

In the Moderna Museet podcast, the museum’s Press Officer Kristin Lundell has invited Johanna Holm-Norrvik who is our Long-term Loan Registrar and one of a few who decides what can be loaned from the museum. Is there an artist who is especially popular amongst our politicians? What does one who is knowledgable on art think about politicians who have opinions on what should hang in their offices? Plus – what happens if you ask to borrow a Picasso to hang behind your desk?

Moderna Museet will publish ten episodes of the podcast in 2019. Opening music: “Walk on By” by Perro Del Mar. The podcast is in Swedish.
