Moderna Museet Malmö closes for 2 hours during demonstration

This Sunday, March 16, Skåne mot rasism (Skåne against Racism) organizes an anti-racism demonstration in response to what happened in Malmö Saturday night, on March the 8th. To show solidarity with the victims of the violence, Moderna Museet Malmö closes for two hours.

What has happened is terrible and we want to clearly show our opposition to violence. As a cultural institution in Malmö, we hope to be a place where increased understanding of differences can grow, says museum director John Peter Nilsson.

At 2 pm on Sunday, the organization Skåne mot rasism arranges a demonstration, starting at Möllevångstorget in central Malmö. Moderna Museet Malmö closes its exhibitions and its cafe between 1.30 and 3:30 pm, partly to give our staff the opportunity to participate in the demonstration, but mainly to show solidarity with the victims and that racism and xenophobia is not acceptable.

Moderna Museet Malmö has previously been part of community involved issues such as Ge rasismen rött kort (Give racism the red card), a collaboration with the soccer team Malmö FF.
