Gitte Ørskou will be the new Director of Moderna Museet

We welcome Gitte Ørskou as the new Director of Moderna Museet. Amanda Lind, Minister for Culture and Democracy, announced the museum’s new director at a press conference at Moderna Museet on Thursday, June 13th, 2019.

– Rooted in modern and contemporary art and with her experience from museum work Gitte Ørskou will further develop Moderna Museet, says Ann-Sofi Noring, acting Director of Moderna Museet. The values which have characterized her leadership in Denmark – engagement, decisiveness, and presence – will come in handy in future activities at Moderna Museet.

On December 31st, 2018 Daniel Birnbaum left his position as Director of Moderna Museet for a position at Acute Art in London. Ann-Sofi Noring has been the acting Director of Moderna Museet since January 1st, 2019.

– Moderna Museet warmly welcomes Gitte Ørskou to a museum doing very well. Most of the collection has just been rehung in new interesting contexts, several of our exhibitions are currently touring internationally and we are waiting for the artist Arthur Jafa, who just received the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale, to fill the large exhibition space at the museum this summer, says Ann-Sofi Noring.
