Meet Monogram in The Study Gallery!

Starting 23 November, our world-famous goat will be on view in The Study Gallery. In the exhibition “Monogram – Robert Rauschenberg and the Moderna Museet Collection”, you can deepen your knowledge of both the artist and the work through archival materials, letters, and photographs.

Robert Rauschenberg (1925–2008) is regarded as one of the most significant artists of the post-war era and has influenced artists across a range of movements and practices, including pop art, neo-dadaism, assemblage, fluxus, nouveau réalisme, and performance art

“Monogram”, which has been part of the Moderna Museet collection since 1964, is one of the works Rauschenberg called “combines” — a kind of hybrid between painting and sculpture. Rauschenberg found the Angora goat in a second-hand office furniture store, and the work underwent several reworkings before the goat was finally placed atop the collage-like painting, where it now stands.
